"Coffee bad and breakfast worsened"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Apr 21, 2014

I returned to this hotel in late February 2014 hoping to find their new instant coffee machine missing: it wasn't! To make matters more difficult, the buffet breakfast has deteriorated into an unappealing offering not worth considering in the price. No fruit save for a few overripe apples and the coffee; well, it just plain sucks. The only saving grace in the past was the prospect of a freshly-made waffle with a giant slab of my favorite breakfast treat, peanut butter. But alas, no peanut butter. When I asked, the breakfast attendant told me that they dropped peanut butter because, "nobody wanted it". Oh, give me a break! Concerning the nasty coffee, I was told by the front desk staff that La Quinta "required" the horrible machine now issuing the current evil brew. A week later I returned to the Cleveland area deciding to try another LaQuinta near a shopping mall to the northeast of Macedonia. Oh what surprise when I was greeting by a two airpots of freshly brewed REAL coffee. And the breakfast at the alternate LaQuinta actually included hot sausages, eggs, and, guess what: PEANUT BUTTER (still popular in this neck of the woods, I guess!)!! Don't get me wrong; the Macedonia LaQuinta is a clean and attractive place with an attentive staff. However, the coffee and breakfast quality issues are purely hotel OWNERSHIP decisions to shortchange the travelers for what might appear to be a tidier profit margin. However, if looking for a great LaQuinta stay, consider the mall location: the price is the same for MUCH more!!

"Great place to stay for my business trip."

The staff was very friendly for my entire stay. Check in was easy as was the check out process. All staff members said hello and asked if there was anything they could do for me. The breakfast was good with a variety of food.

"New Renovations- Awesome!"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Mar 11, 2014

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past because it is close to family and friends in the area and is pet friendly. Our most recent stay was the best one yet as they have totally renovated lobby and rooms. It looks so good and made our stay very nice. Our room had a king bed, fridge/microwave and couch. The carpeting is new and they have repainted the rooms to have light gray walls with one dark gray accent wall that the bed is on. New lamps and art on the walls too. The look is very modern but comfortable. The room was very clean and the staff at this location has always been really helpful. My only gripe is the breakfast options but that goes for all la quinta locations. We often skip the breakfast. We will be staying here again for future visits!

"Not children friendly"
1 of 5 stars Reviewed Feb 17, 2014

I want to respond to an earlier review and also point out other reviews over the past several months. The weekend of February 14-16 A hockey team of 8-10 year olds stayed at the hotel during a tournament weekend. We had a very pleasant women check us in and was attending the front desk both evenings we stayed. We were told by the morning desk person that there were some complaints of our children being loud until 3am. I want to defend our group for a minute. 1. We payed the same price to stay, eat breakfast and swim in pool as everyone else. 2. Yes, police were called as the morning front desk person LEFT for the day. If we were that much trouble I think he would have stuck around to talk to the authorities. As it happened the police officer came in, Said hello to a mother, went to the front desk attendant and she denied that there was any trouble at that time or in the evening and then he left. 3. Our kids were asleep in their beds by 11 pm both nights-they were exhausted from playing hockey. (Similar to the November review). 4. Kids are kids but they were very well behaved and they were never left unattended. I have the same comments on regards to the staff at the La Quinta as several others on this board over the past several months. The majority of the staff are rude. Except for the pleasant evening front desk women. I feel they did not like having their hotel full because that meant they actually had to do something like work. I actually told the cleaning person that she did not have to clean our room in the morning that we just needed to give us clean towels. She said "cool!" And went on her way. We did take up room at breakfast. But no more then if the hotel was full on any other weekend. We also used the breakfast area to eat dinner Saturday night. After we were finished we cleaned up and wiped down the tables afterwards. My recommendations are to the families with children-the La Quinta are not kid or family friendly so do not stay here.

"Always a GREAT experience"
5 of 5 stars Reviewed Feb 16, 2014
Reg Y | Toronto, Canada
I?ve been an Elite member of La Quinta for a good number of years. And very happy that I chose this hotel for a good number of reasons. The Macedonia location stands out well above the rest in terms of leadership and staffing. We?ve all heard that saying that ?children will be children.? Over the past weekend, children were the reason why a few guests were highly upset. The parents let their children play and run in the hallways during the afternoon and again in the later hours. I applaud the Front Desk personnel Greg for speaking on behalf of La Quinta as a corporation. Greg, inasmuch other employees, understand that hotels do not condone children running amuck. Especially when some parents are hesitant to control their own children. Some individuals make reservations to get rest and relaxation. While eating breakfast just 30 feet away from the check out desk, I listened to some of the parents berate Greg ? for taking the initiative to enforce company policy. Congratulations to Greg for telling the parents ?they have over extended their stay, and now it?s time for them to leave.? Once the parents started to yell ? the local police should have been summoned to escort them from the building. Overall my stays have always been fantastic. It?s because of employees like Greg, who are not afraid to enforce policy, makes my stays much more comfortable. Keep up the great work.
