We frequently stay at La Quinta's when traveling. This is the worst La Quinta so far.
Our reservation requesting a first floor room was confirmed. When we got here we were told there were no first floor rooms available. The desk clerk's directions on where to park provided us a location further east away from our room. My feeling is that she did not want us parking up front and using the main entrance. I overheard the desk clerk address concern to one of the customers that he may be on his feet quite awhile when the customers begin checking out.
The room had a strange smell. In my opinion this room had been either a smoking room at one time or they had a mold problem. I am allergic to both and I was concerned. The room was very tired looking and badly in need of a redo. I did keep my shoes on and checked the sheets for little friends before retiring (did not feel the need in prior La Quinta's.).
All said I do not feel a need to return.
We stayed two nights over Memorial Day weekend, our first night was uneventful. We had a few friends over, and, even with several conversations going on at once, the voices did not carry outside the room.
Sunday morning, we grabbed breakfast in the breakfast area across the hall. The offering was decent, just wish there were more waffle irons available.
We spent Sunday afternoon just relaxing before visiting with friends again Sunday night.
Shortly after we turned the lights off and went to bed, the boyfriend's cell phonealerted us to a tornado warning for Douglas county. While we were dressing, the sirens started going off. We grabbed our dog and went to the front desk. Matt, the night auditor, was already in the know. He calmly directed us where to go, and began knocking on doors and making phone calls. A lot for one person to do alone. Through it all, we was as calm as could be.
Luckily the warning was cancelled and we were able to return to our room. I was impressed with the way that Matt kept a level head.
The next time we are in town we will definitely stay at the La Quinta again.
Deciding to attend the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders meeting in Omaha at the last minute and finding my first several choices full, I used the American Airlines flight/hotel deal and ended up at the La Quinta. Pricewise, this was a good deal. Everything else - not so much.
After I looked up the hotel online, I realized that it was, shall we say, inexpensive and far away from the convention center where the meeting is held. I called the Advantage desk at AA and found that I could cancel but the $369 plus tax for the hotel would not be refunded. This for a hotel whose rooms regularly rent for $69 per night. The staff was perfectly nice and carried my bag to the second floor - no elevator. My room was old but clean.
There are no restaurants within walking distance and the neighborhood is not one for walking, anyway.
Advice: check out any hotel on a package deal online (on Tripadvisor!) before signing up.
This spot in SE Omaha, NE is a jewel in the rough. The rooms are spacious, clean and updated. The beds are so comfy. It is a fairly quiet hotel although being near the highway, you can expect some noise on that side of the Inn. There are several locked entrances which makes for easy access to all parts of the Inn. The breakfast buffet..is mediocre.
Nothing fancy, but everything that was there, was fresh. They offer weekly rates that are extremely well priced. I will be staying there on my next trip.
I submitted a review earlier of this property and marked all terrible, instead of excellent! As I wrote in my prior review, this was my second time at La Quinta Southwest and I am very pleased with my stay. I apoligize to the Manager and Staff for my mistake in submitting my last review.
