HOW DO I DOWNLOAD POI (POINTS OF INTEREST) LOCATIONS TO MY GPS DEVICE?

GARMIN
You will first need to install Garmin’s POI Loader software available here (also includes information on compatible devices and help).
We suggest you create a folder on your computer where you can download your POIs. To download both the POI file and the brand icon, select ‘Zip file with data and icon’. Make sure you unzip both files into your download folder. You may want to create subfolders for different POI Groups.
Plug in your Garmin device to your computer via USB cable (and it should become recognized).
Run the Garmin POI Loader and follow the simple steps. When it asks for the directory where the data files can be found, simply point to the folder where you have downloaded your POIs.
Once the POI Loader has indicated successful loading, on most units you can find your custom POIs by clicking [Where to?] and then [Extras].
On certain units you may need to ensure your map detail is set to 'Most' (found under [Settings] and then [Map]). You may also need to zoom in closer using the [+] button on the upper right of maps.

TOMTOM
Connect your TomTom to your computer via a USB cable. If your TomTom asks if you’d like to connect to the computer, tap yes.
Save the file(s) directly into your maps folder on your TomTom Device. The maps folder is usually named something similar to “North_America”, “USA_and_Canada”, “Western_and_Central_Europe”, etc. To download both the POI file and the brand icon, ensure you select ‘Zip file with data and icon’. Make sure you unzip and save both files into your maps folder.
