About Ontario

Ontario is a friendly city and moves at a relaxed pace, so you'll never feel rushed. Although Ontario is not known as a top tourist destination, there is a lot to do and the medium-sized city is only 35 miles east of Los Angeles. All of the districts have residential areas and you can always find a cute boutique or a family-owned restaurant wherever you go.

Downtown

The Downtown district is a renovated area on the western side of the city. This district is between Highways 10 and 60, and Euclid Avenue is the heart of the district. The Downtown area has most of the city's historical landmarks, including the Ontario Museum of History and Art. The museum is housed in a beautiful building, and it's a fascinating place to spend the day. The fountain outside the museum was the first fountain built in Ontario and in the early 1900s would be turned on each time a train stopped at the city. The new Main Library is also a breathtaking building and the City Hall is right behind it.

Guasti

The Guasti district is in the center of the city and Highway 10 goes through it. As you drive through this district you'll see plots of undeveloped land next to beautiful new buildings. This district does not have that many shops or restaurants, but it does have the beautiful Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park where you can spend the day having a picnic or lounging by the lake. The park has a lake with a water slide where you can go swimming, fishing or rent a boat. This district also has the Ontario International Airport.

Ontario Mills

The Ontario Mills area is on the eastern side of the side of the city and it is the place to go if you want entertainment, shopping, or a delicious meal at a new restaurant. Of course the focal point of Ontario Mills district is the Ontario Mills Mall. The mall is a large shopping complex which has AMC Ontario Mills 30 Theatre and around 200 stores and restaurants. If you're not in the mood for window shopping head south to Scandia Amusement Park. Scandia is a small park with rides, a batting cage, miniature golf and an arcade. Whether you're a kid or a kid at heart, Scandia has something for everyone.

Outside the City

If you head outside the city there are several other attractions and entertainments. About 30 minutes away is the California Museum of Photography, where you can spend a day admiring works of art. However, the traffic in Southern California is fairly bad so give yourself plenty of time for the drive if you plan on leaving the city.
